Identity and classification
Morphology and identification
A green discal band crosses the upper wings, a pattern shared with other members of the green species complex within the athamas group. The 2016 systematic study distinguishes these butterflies using molecular relationships alongside adult morphology. [1]
Distribution and habitat
A regional checklist records athamas from mainland Southeast Asia, southern China and western Malaysia, in forests at low and middle elevations. [4]
Behaviour
The Southeast Asian checklist describes males as territorial in forest habitats. [4]
